What's New in BigBlueButton 3.0.18

BigBlueButton 3.0.18 addresses a critical screenshare issue with Chrome 143 and brings updates to the HTML5 client translations and the WebRTC SFU component.

Screenshare Fix for Chrome 143

Chrome version 143 introduced a change that prevented presenters from sharing browser tabs via screenshare. This release includes a fix in the WebRTC SFU (bbb-webrtc-sfu) that restores full tab sharing functionality. Without this update, presenters using Chrome 143 or later would be unable to share any browser tab during a session.

HTML5 Client Locale Updates

The HTML5 client receives updated translations via the Transifex integration, including improvements for the German locale (de) and likely other languages. These updates ensure a more localized experience for users worldwide.

WebRTC SFU Updated to v2.21.0

The WebRTC SFU (Selective Forwarding Unit) has been upgraded to version 2.21.0, which includes the screenshare fix as well as other stability improvements. This update ensures smooth media streaming for all participants.

BigBlueButton 3.0.18 is recommended for all deployments where presenters use Chrome 143 or later, as the screenshare tab sharing feature would otherwise be broken. We thank the community for their contributions and feedback.
